About Me

I was born and raised in north central Arkansas, but at eighteen, and in the subsequent years that have followed, I have lived in and learned from the diversities of the states of Washington, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, where I currently reside with  my husband, two children, two Golden Retrievers, and my grandmother (who moved in with us last year).

Though I am currently a student majoring in English with a writing concentration, I consider myself a perpetual student of life and humanity. A philosopher of sorts, much of my inspiration comes from observing people around me. One of my favorite pastimes  is creating stories in my head for the strangers I observe. I am a firm believer in the old adage that, “Everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle,” and I use this as the catalyst for my persistent need to learn from everyone I encounter, as well as for much of my purpose and inspiration in writing.

I am an essayist whose creative nonfiction pieces have been recognized by multiple publications, and I am a poet whose poetry has appeared in Mercyhurst University’s literary publication, Lumen. I am also an aspiring multi-genre novelist who rarely writes a happily-ever-after.

I write for the passion of writing. I write for the pursuit of conviction. I write because I have something to say and whether it is heard or not, it is my burden to write it. I write… because it is who I am.
